A LOVING family man who was the nicest man you could ever meet - the moving tribute paid to David Bird by his daughters.
Mr Bird, 52, the twin brother of Derrick Bird, was found dead at his house on High Trees Farm, Lamplugh.
A statement from his three daughters - 28-year-old Rachel, 26-year-old Tracey and 19-year-old Katie - said: "We are utterly devastated about the death of our dad. He was the nicest man you could ever meet. He was a loving husband and doting dad and granda."
They said: "Dad was a loving and cheerful character and was well known throughout the village. He will not only be missed by us, but by the whole community. Love you forever. Sleep well."
They added: "We would also like to send our condolences to all the other families and people involved in this tragic incident. Our thoughts are with them also."
David Bird, who was a close friend of another of the victims, solicitor Kevin Commons, also leaves his wife Susan.
A funeral service will be held in St Michael's Church, Lamplugh, on Monday, June 14, at 9.50am, followed by cremation at Distington Hall.
Donations can be made in his memory to the Pride of Cumbria Air Ambulance and the First Responders, c/o F Irving and Son, 153 Main Street, Frizington.
