MONEY continues to be raised in the memory of Egremont teenager Danica Maxwell.
Danica’s Dream Fund was set up following the wishes of the 15-year-old before she died in December 2010.
It has subsequently raised £18,000 for families caring for children with cancer.
Recently Dan Shutt and a group of his friends held a sponsored walk for the fund around Scafell which raised a total of £850.
John Maxwell, Danica’s dad, said: “We would like to thank everyone very much. It means so much to us that there are people out there wanting to help us keeping Danica’s Dreams going.’’
Alyson Taylor’s Dance Academy, of which Danica was a member, also held a show and raffle and made £300 for her fund.
John said: “Danica’s friends danced the last dance in her memory and they all danced in a purple outfit to one of her favourite songs. In fact, throughout the show, the dancers wore something purple for Danica which was very nice.’’
The dance academy also has a trophy, called the Danica Maxwell Outstanding Achievement Award, which was won for the second time running by Beth Walker.
Money was also raised for the fund by Lindsey Woodend following a 40-mile run/walk.
“It really means a lot to us because Lindsey didn’t know Danica but wanted her sponsor money to go to the fund,’’ John added.
