10-week curfew for man, 25
ROBERT John Howlett of Loweswater Avenue, Woodhouse, Whitehaven, has been made the subject of a 10-week curfew (7pm–7am).
The sentence was decided by magistrates at West Cumbria Courthouse after hearing that their original sentence, a community order, was unworkable. That order was revoked.
Howlett, 25, had been convicted of sending a message with the purpose of causing anxiety or annoyance and of resisting police.
Two-year ban for drink driver
DRINK-driver Paul Walker of Seascale has been banned from driving for two years and ordered to undertake 100 hours of unpaid work. He pleaded guilty at West Cumbria courthouse to driving with a breath/alcohol level of 109 mcgms – over three times the legal limit. Walker, 37, of Bleawath, Gosforth Road, was further ordered to pay £85 costs.
Man guilty of possessing drugs
A FRIZINGTON man has been found guilty of possessing drugs.
Paul Cosgrove, 48, of Arlecdon Road, had previous denied having 10 tablets of Diazepam. However, he was found guilty at a trial held at West Cumbria Courthouse and was fined £75 with £700 costs and £15 victim surcharge.
Cannabis fine
A £75 fine for having a quantity of cannabis in her possession was imposed on Kerry Anne Macaulay, 26, of Brakeside Gardens, Whitehaven. The charge was admitted before magistrates at West Cumbria Courthouse and costs of £85 and a £15 surcharge were also ordered.
