Jailed for seventh drink-drive case
A MAN caught drink-driving for a SEVENTH time has been jailed for 120 days.
David Walker, 49, of Holly Bank, Whitehaven, who was already banned from driving for a previous offence, admitted being nearly four times over the limit at a hearing at West Cumbria Courthouse last week.
Walker also admitted taking a car without consent, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance. A breath test revealed he had 137mcgms in 100mls of breath. The limit is 35. The offences took place on Holly Bank on May 22.
Walker also admitted failing to surrender to custody at Workington police station.
Magistrates said: “This is your seventh conviction for driving with excess alcohol. You are fully aware that you are disqualified, yet again you took the risk potentially putting others in danger.”
Drive ban
A CLEATOR Moor motorist has been banned from driving for 40 months.
Kevin Gary Banks, 27, of Crossings Close, admitted drink driving and was also fined £100 with £85 costs and £15 victim surcharge.
Magistrates at West Cumbria Court House heard how the defendant’s reading was 77mcgms of alcohol in 100mls of breath. The legal limit is 35mcgms.
Cannabis fine
A MIREHOUSE man has admitted possessing cannabis.
Gary Dawson, 52, of Burnmoor Avenue, also admitted using a public communications network to cause anxiety or annoyance to another person. Magistrates at West Cumbria Courthouse fined him £75 with £85 costs and £15 victim surcharge.
He was also given a conditional discharge for six months.
