Man charged with trespass

GEORGE Thomas Carr, 33, of St James’ Court, Whitehaven, has been remanded in custody pending trial at Crown Court, Carlisle.

Mr Carr, who appeared before magistrates at West Cumbria Courthouse, is accused of entering as a trespasser a home at Rudds Court, Whitehaven, with intent to steal. He is further charged with the theft of a purse containing £30 cash. Pleas have yet to be entered.

The case was adjourned until November 12.

Jailed for violent attack on man

A MAN has been jailed following a violent episode in Whitehaven.

Ian O’Fee, 37, of Wasdale Close, Whitehaven, admitted assaulting another man and using threatening behaviour. He also pleaded guilty to damaging a door belonging to Home Group.

Magistrates sent O’Fee to prison for 120 days because his offences on September 20 were “fuelled by alcohol at night with vulnerable people present”.

He was also ordered to pay £300 compensation to the assault victim.

Disorderly

A MAN has been fined £40 for being drunk and disorderly twice in two days.

Simon Paul Atkinson, 32, of no fixed abode, admitted the offences which took place at Bridges Retail Park and Calder Avenue in Whitehaven.

Magistrates ordered him to pay £85 court costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

Man stole meat

STEALING £80 of meat from the Egremont Co-op has landed a man in court.

Stephen Lawrence Flinn, 32, of Royal Drive, Egremont, admitted the offence.

Magistrates at West Cumbria Courthouse imposed a 12-month conditional discharge on Flinn. He must also pay £40 compensation to the Co-op and £85 court costs.
