GARAGES in Copeland were hit by fuel shortages on Friday.
Spar at Bigrigg, used by a lot of Sellafield traffic, reported that it had fuel left, "but not a great deal". It was however expecting a further delivery tonight.
At Crossfield Garage in Cleator Moor, it had been open since 6am and still had petrol and diesel pumps operating when contact by The Whitehaven News around 9am.
At the Pelican Garage, on the main road into Whitehaven, only one pump was in action but they were expecting a delivery this morning. Fuel for emergency services was being kept back.
Meanwhile at a busy Tesco Garage in Whitehaven, all the pumps remained in action.

Have your say
Talk about the Government scaring the public. This is typical media scaring. The headline does not bear any resemblance to the story. With that headline I was expecting a whole string of garages shut having ran out of fuel.
