ONE of our Discovery meetings was at The Strands Hotel in Wasdale where we were shown around their brewery and told how the taste of different styles of beer can be varied by the types of ingredients used.

AT our meeting in the Civic Hall on August 30, a talk entitled “Herdwick Sheep” was given by well-known Ennerdale and Kinniside hill-farmer Will Rawling, chairman of the Cumbrian Farmers’ Network, secretary of the Ennerdale Show and vice chairman of the Herdwick Sheep Breeders’ Association.
