Colourful entries all round in Egremont

A STRONG display of colourful entries were featured at the Egremont Parish Church show last weekend.
Organisers say the annual produce show was a great success, as members of the community of all ages supported the event.
Rev Richard Lee, team rector for Egremont, said: “There was a good number of entries despite the awful weather and challenging weather. The floral and flower section was particularly strong this year. The roses dahlias and chrysanthemums were absolutely superb. There was also quite a good display of freesias.”
Organisers say the total entries this year were slightly down on last year due to the weather.
However, the entries for the children’s section increased as youngsters created a variety of colourful items.
Rev Lee said there was a good turnout of visitors and exhibitors who filled the hall to enjoy the teas and raffles.
He added: “This is one of the few town horticultural and produce shows left. It’s devolved to the parish church although exhibitors from across the area come along to support it. It’s important to keep these traditions going.”
