BOOTLE children have enjoyed a magical end-of-term celebration following a turbulent year.

Pupils at Captain Shaw’s School took part in a host of fun activities in a circus workshop, organised by the Magic Carpet Theatre Company.
It follows a difficult academic year, in which the school faced closure.
Cumbria County Council served a notice to close the school but reversed the decision in April – much to the delight of the school community and campaigners.
