Chickens stabbed to death on Whitehaven allotment

Police are investigating after five chickens were stabbed to death with a garden fork.
The incident happened on an allotment to the rear of Rosebank in Hensingham, Whitehaven.
The vandal is believed to have climbed a fence before killing the chickens.
A spokeswoman for Cumbria Police said the the chickens were found stabbed or battered to death.
The incident happened between 7pm on Tuesday and Wednesday morning.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident or anyone with information about the offender.
The allotments are owned by Copeland Council.
Hensingham councillor Geoffrey Garrity said that he was shocked at the slaughter of the chickens and would be contacting police investigators.
“I am very surprised that this has happened,” he said.
