Caring bikers' Easter tradition
Last updated at 12:01, Thursday, 05 April 2012
AROUND 150 bikers from across West Cumbria turned out in force at the weekend to support five local charities.
The annual Easter egg event, organised by the Whitehaven Motorcycle Action Group, saw over 200 chocolate eggs donated from bikers on Sunday. They were given to local charities and organisations including Mayfield School in Whitehaven, Barnardo’s, the children’s ward and Footsteps group at West Cumberland Hospital and Age UK.
Anne Crayston organised the day and said: “It was great to see so many people turn out in support of this event, the weather was perfect and it was a good opportunity for people to get on their bikes.
“We’re really grateful to everyone for the Easter egg donations and the local businesses that supported us also including Morrisons, Electricity North West, and Dalton Care Home.
“These eggs are going to deserving people some who wouldn’t normally have the chance to enjoy an Easter egg this year.”
