ST BEES cadets showcased their skills at a recent inspection.
The youngsters took part in a series of activities which were reviewed by Colonel Tom McMullen, the Commandant of Cumbria ACF.
Lieutenant-colonel Jeff Evans, contingent commander said: “Members of 3 Platoon were preparing for their military expedition in June, and were learning how to pitch tents, what to do in an emergency, how to cook in the field, how to pack a rucksack and how to read a map.”
He said 4 Platoon, led by 5 Platoon, spent the morning training for a platoon attack exercise, in which the Senior NCOs played the enemy.
Lt Col Evans said: “The rain stopped and the instructors from 40 Cadet Training Team were pleased with the military skills on display. Many thanks to Sergeant Tony Pearson and his team.
“At the end of the day, Colonel McMullan presented the trophies and prizes. He began by presenting DofE Gold Awards to 13 past and present members of the contingent. All of these had been won during the last year, which is a remarkable total in a school of our size. He left, apparently well pleased by what he had seen.”
