Nursery duo in the final

TWO members of staff at Acorns pre-school nursery in Cleator Moor have been shortlisted for a national award.
Mandy Cook and manager Marie Tattersall, who work at the nursery on the Leconfield Industrial Estate, are set to attend the final of the Nursery World Awards.
The ceremony is set to take place in September at London’s Lancaster Gate.
Mandy is the nursery’s Early Years Senior and has been shortlisted in the Newcomer of the Year category while Marie, who was nominated by parents, is in line for Manager of the Year.
Marie said: “I’m not surprised Mandy has reached the final, she received nominations from parents stating how kind, reassuring and pleasant Mandy is. She’s one of the most skilled practitioners I’ve ever seen.”
Marie says it has been a busy year for the nursery as she has won both the CN and Future 100 awards. Mandy narrowly missed out on the Apprentice of the Year trophy at the Copeland Apprentice Awards, which was won by her colleague Catherine Graham.
The nursery was also highly commended at the NMT National Nursery Awards in London.
