Hertel scoops 14th safety honour
Last updated at 11:53, Thursday, 25 October 2012
THIS year’s RoSPA Occupational Health & Safety Awards saw Hertel recognised for the 14th time for an outstanding safety performance at sites including Sellafield, where it provides multi-discipline maintenance and construction services.
Having achieved the gold standard for the past 14 years, Hertel was honoured with a President’s Award for its commitment to safety excellence. The award is given only to companies which have won 10 or more consecutive golds.
The annual RoSPA awards are non-competitive. To qualify, a company must provide evidence of how it manages health and safety, controls risk and measures and assesses incidents.
Chris Abbey, head of health, safety, environment and quality, said: “Health and safety is ingrained in the culture of Hertel. Every member of staff, from long-term employees to temporary sub-contractors, is educated and expected to abide by Hertel’s high standards. These are constantly reviewed to meet the latest best practice. It’s because of this approach that we’ve been honoured by RoSPA and we’re delighted to have our processes recognised with the prestigious President’s Award.”
