Cumbrian firms win contracts

FOUR Cumbrian creative businesses are celebrating new contracts to work with Britain’s Energy Coast Business Cluster (BECBC) on its website, PR and marketing plans.

Armitage Online (Kendal), Market Sense (Penrith), Plain Creative (Kendal) and Stoneleigh Communications (Orton) have been involved in recent bidding processes with the Cluster and were announced as preferred suppliers at Wednesday’s BECBC members’ meeting at Energus, Lillyhall.

“We set out to appoint local suppliers as part of our commitment to Cumbrian procurement,” says Phil Jardine, the Cluster’s business development director.

“It turned out to be a great approach. We’ve met a host of excellent businesses during the tendering process and at interviews.

“We were spoilt for choice and certainly didn’t need to go out of county to find the consultants, designers and experts that we needed.”

Andrew Armitage, of Armitage Online, is one of those who will be working with BECBC on its new website, due to be launched later in the year.

He said: “The BECBC website is an exciting brief to provide a dynamic site to meet the objectives of the cluster, while also meeting the expectations of the member businesses.

“The new site will extend the features available on the current site, as well as introducing features such as online booking for events and membership renewals.”

Sally Seed, of Stoneleigh Communications, will be working with Tracey Errington, of Market Sense, and focusing on the Cluster’s growing reputation as the voice and hub for Cumbria’s energy-related business:

“I joined Britain’s Energy Coast Business Cluster last year after working with a couple of member companies and realising the potential opportunities in the sector,” she says.

“With 180 members of all sizes and in various energy-related sectors, there are lots of stories to tell so I am looking forward to the challenge of finding the ones that really matter and telling those stories both inside and beyond Cumbria.”

Businesses interested in joining Britain’s Energy Coast Business Cluster can find details and an application form to download on the current website at www.becbusinesscluster.co.uk.

The Cluster’s AGM will take place at Energus on Wednesday, April 4 from 8.30am. Booking is essential and details are online.
