Awards for local entrepreneurs

THE most successful local entrepreneurs have been celebrated at an awards ceremony.
Ways Into Self Employment (WISE) recognised the hard work and innovation of a host of West Cumbrian residents, who have achieved success through their own business ventures.
Twenty-nine people were shortlisted in five categories. The winners were:
Most Enterprising Business – Miss Cindy Hoten (Whitehaven); Commendation – MT Motorsport, Mark Thompson (Whitehaven).
Change Through Enterprise – Treasure Chest, Edna Brooks (Whitehaven); Commendation – Miss Cindy Hoten.
Business Development Through Training – Living For Life Cumbria Ltd, Alan Hunter (Workington); Commendation – Cazzaz Barking Beauties, Carron McCall (Workington).
Best for the Local Environment – Gear Services, Lee Moore (Silloth); Commendation – EneffTech Services Ltd, Ian Henderson (Whitehaven).
Business Leadership – Works 4 You Ltd, Sheila Moffat (Cleator Moor); Commendation – Living For Life Cumbria Ltd.
Overall winner – Living For Life Cumbria Ltd.
The event, held on Friday at Westlakes Science and Technology Park, was organised by WISE and sponsored by Centre for Leadership and Performance, AMEC Nuclear, Babcock Nuclear, UCLan and NMP.
