Buoyant trade at the Broughton April show

AT BROUGHTON AUCTION on Friday and Saturday, last week, Harrison & Hetherington held their Annual April Fair Show and Sale of 836 store cattle.

Friday’s sale sore a buoyant trade for all types and sizes with customers from all over the UK.

The pre-sale show was judged by Colin Little of The Guards, Ireby, who awarded the Championship to a Charolais-cross heifer consigned by Messrs Clark of Buckman Hall, Thwaites which later sold for £1,000 and bought by the judge.

Reserve champion was awarded to Messrs Tyson, of Beck Farm, whose bullock later made £680 bought by Colin Oliver.

Prizes – First Day – Class 1 – Heifers

1 & Champion – AJ Clark, Buckman Hall, Thwaites, Millom £1,000 bought by Colin Little (Judge) The Guards, Ireby, 2 RF Tyson, Beck Farm £890, 3 RF Tyson, Beck Farm £675.

Bullocks – 1 & Reserve Champion – 1 RF Tyson, Beck Farm £680 bought by Colin Oliver, 2 A Hartley, Turner Hall £740, 3 RA & C Benson, Gamswell £780.

Saturday’s sale was again a great success with another great crowd. The judge for the day was Mr Mulgrew of Walney, who awarded the championship to a Blonde bullock from Messrs Ellwood, of Everard Lodge which later sold for £735 to the judge.

Reserve Champion was a Limousin heifer consigned by Hoggarth, of Old Hall Farm, later selling at £710 to David Barker.
