Brave Jonathan zips across Tyne
Last updated at 11:44, Thursday, 12 July 2012
A BRAVE Whitehaven teenager has zip-wired across the Tyne River in an adventurous charity challenge.
Jonathan Baxter, 16, has raised a remarkable £1,300 so far after zip-wiring from the 138ft-high Baltic Building at Gateshead, across the Tyne River and landing safely on the other side.
Money raised by Jonathan – a student at Lakes College – will go to The Leprosy Mission, a Christian development organisation that supports people suffering from the disease. The cause was brought to Jonathan and his family’s attention through their church, St John’s.
While zipping down the wire, Jonathan waved at his family who had gathered to watch him. He said that the challenge had been “brilliant”.
