Barney the goose on mend

WHITEHAVEN’S Barney the goose is on the mend and is expected to return to the harbourside soon.
Barney was attacked by a dog a couple of weeks ago and was taken to the Knoxwood Wildlife Rescue Centre for treatment.
Emma Scott, manager of the charitable organisation near Wigton, said: “Barney is absolutely fantastic, he is making a very good recovery and his wounds have all completely healed.
“His legs and feet are still bruised but he has his own private pool at the moment and he is paddling about.”
She added: “He should hopefully be back in Whitehaven in the later part of this week or early next week.”
It was the second time that Barney has been attacked by a dog, and had to have steel pins in his leg in 2006.
