A WHITEHAVEN man who knocked his female victim unconscious in an assault has avoided jail.
Christopher Telfer, 30, of High Road, admitted two counts of assault carried out in Whitehaven on March 11. He also pleaded guilty to possessing an offensive weapon, namely a baseball bat, during the episode.
Telfer admitted a further charge of assaulting a man on Christmas Day.
The defendant was given a 110-day prison sentence, suspended for 12 months.
He was also given a 12-month community order in which he is required to complete an alcohol treatment course.
Telfer, who was ordered to pay a total of £250 compensation, was made the subject of a five-year restraining order prohibiting him from making contact with his female victim.
