PROMOTING local businesses has been the aim of two wedding fairs in Whitehaven.
The events at Haig Enterprise Park and H Samuel gave people the chance to show that people don’t need to go out of the area to plan their wedding. It was also an opportunity for local businesses to show what services they can offer couples.
On Sunday, 16 businesses showcased their services at the Haig Enterprise Park at Kells. The event was held at the premises of It’s a Classic, a chauffeur-driven classic cars service, who were joined by businesses including The Muffin Top Bakery, Patellie hats, Suits and Boots, Kells Kitchen, Good Vibrations Disco, Laura’s hair and beauty, Miss Cindy Hoten and The Waterfront.
John Curwen, of It’s a Classic, said: “We want to promote the fact that you can still source everything you need for that special day or occasion in the Whitehaven area.
“We are trying to get a network of businesses together to keep everything locally and to let everyone know that we are open for business. We want to show people that there are people to help and support them.”
He said the event was a good opportunity for people to see what was on offer locally. Mr Curwen also thanked Nathan Callow for providing the image for The News.
A wedding event was also held at H Samuel last Thursday, where a range of tradespeople were invited to attend. These included The Rum Story, Whitehaven Civic Hall and Crown Celebrations.
Stacey Watson, sales associate, said: “It was a really good day. We were kept busy all day. We are about using local businesses. We had brilliant feedback, some people didn’t know that most of the business existed.”
People were also offered 10 per cent off any wedding items bought in the shop as well as a raffle prize.
