The fund, in memory of Whitehaven teenager Sarah McKain, raises money for congenital heart defect charities.

Billy Rudd, of Whitehaven Embroidery, donated the kit, which features the star logo, to the fund. Sarah’s family subsequently handed over the kit to St Bridget’s School, which Sarah had previously attended.

A bingo, held last week at Hensingham ARLFC club, also raised £1,230, for the fund.

Hannah McKain, Sarah’s sister, added: “We would like to thank everyone who gave prizes, Peggy Mason for donating pies, all our helpers on the night and everyone who attended the night.

“We really appreciate all their continued support.”

Hensingham Rugby Club will also be holding a bingo with a pie and pea supper in aid of the junior section on April 16.

Tickets are available from Peggy Mason on 01946 65655.
