Adults encouraged to learn
Published at 11:13, Monday, 10 May 2010
THE NINETEENTH annual Adult Learners Week takes place this month.
It aims to encourage and inspire more adults to get more involved in learning.
The Beacon is celebrating this event with a special tactile activity session for members of Copeland Occupational and Social Centre (COSC) on Monday, May 24 from 10:30am to noon.
COSC has served the people of Copeland for over 25 years, providing a day service for adults of all ages who have a range of physical disabilities.
The session will explore Roman life and legacy, allowing the group access to Roman artifacts. Members of the group will also have the chance to engage with objects from The Beacon’s handling collection, including Roman armour, and discovering what it’s like to be an archeologist.
The Beacon provides learning opportunities for adults of all ages and the abilities in a variety of ways. Contact Alan or Laura for more details on 01946 592302.
