A fish called wonder

THERE’S something fishy been going on at The Beacon in Whitehaven! That’s because youngsters have been creating their own ‘fishy friends’ to celebrate our area’s beautiful coastline.
Held to coincide with its Fun & Games exhibit, The Beacon is hosting workshops to encourage families to explore their creative side. Fishy Friends, held on Wednesday and Thursday last week, was delivered in conjunction with the Living Seas scheme.
Children armed only with plastic bottles, coloured paper and glue, and had to use all their imagination to bring the colourful fish to life.
The craft sessions continue on Wednesdays and Thursdays every week during the school holidays.
Today (Thursday) it’s Colourful Moving Collage, in which children will use colour to create a pop-up collage. Next week it’s Sporty Puppets, and the sessions end with Fun and Games Mascots on August 29 and 30.
The sessions cost £3 per child and run from 11am to noon and 2pm to 3pm. To book, call 01946 592302 or email thebeacon@copeland.gov.uk.
