An insurance salesman has been jailed for a brutal attack on his ex-girlfriend.

Thug Adam Ozah admitted the cowardly attack when he appeared at Croydon Crown Court last Thursday.

The court heard how the 24-year-old telephoned the Thornton Heath home of Donna Shaw demanding to know who she was sleeping with.

She was upset by the question and put the phone down. But half an hour later Ozah, who has since moved to Leicester, knocked on her door.

Ms Shaw's 55-year-old mother Margaret answered but he pushed past her and started kicking his former girlfriend.

He also grabbed her by the throat, repeatedly slammed her head against a wall and pulled a lump of hair from her head.

A statement from the victim's mother said Ozah had said during the frightening assault I'm going to do her some real mischief if I don't kill her'.

He also grabbed the phone from Mrs Shaw when she tried to call the police.

Her daughter was taken to Mayday Hospital where a doctor reported she had extensive injuries.

Philip Farr, defending, said Ozah had taken an anger management course in the past.

Judge Simon Pratt said: "This was a very nasty and serious incident of domestic violence. We all know there are emotional pressures after a break-up of a relationship."
