Some of the biggest names in the wrestling world have thrown their weight behind an Egremont charity.

WWE superstar Finn Balor and legendary commentator Jim Ross have shown their support for Danica's Dream Fund by proudly wearing the charity's purple wristband.

The charity's link to the wrestling world came via Egremont grappler Johnny Moss, an ambassador for Danica's Dream Fund.

Former WWE Universal Champion Finn Balor was pictured with the wristband during his recent masterclass at Johnny's Egremont wrestling school, and Jim Ross was invited to support the charity when he worked alongside Johnny in Manchester recently for a recording of the revived World of Sport show.

The Dream Fund was created in memory of Egremont teenager Danica Maxwell and pays for treats for seriously ill children and their families. It has raised more than £140,000 since Danica died in 2010 aged 15.

Johnny said: "It's an absolute honour and pretty humbling to be an ambassador for the fund. I know John [Danica's dad] and his family well; his son Devon trains at the school.

"They have gone through so much and it's tremendous to see them putting so much into the charity. I will do anything I can do to help to raise awareness for this wonderful local charity."

And Finn added: "I've known John a long time; his heart is as big as he is, and I witnessed this at the school. Egremont has got such a great community atmosphere and I'll back Danica's Dream Fund, just like John. It's a great cause."

John Maxwell said: "A massive thank-you goes to John for agreeing to be ambassador. It's touching because his daughters also go to the same dance school Danica went to and have heard a bit about her. It's great seeing people wearing her band and promoting her charity."

Calendars supporting the fund are on sale for £1 each at Coleridge Stores, Orgill, Egremont. Alternatively email John at jmaxwell123&btinternet.com or contact him via Facebook.
