A woman has been put into a medically induced coma after falling at home in Whitehaven.
The Great North Air Ambulance Service was called to Hensingham at around 2.45pm yesterday, where a 57-year-old woman had suffered a serious head injury.
The air ambulance's doctor-led trauma team anaesthetised the patient and gave her a blood transfusion.
She was then airlifted to Royal Preston Hospital within 15 minutes where she arrived in a serious but stable condition.
