Liam McGoldrick, 29, admitted assaulting Rachel Holm between May 15 and 18 last year when he appeared at Carlisle Crown Court.
At a previous court hearing he admitted harassing Miss Holm by sending a a handwritten letter through the post, telephoning her and sending unwanted text and private Facebook messages.
Recorder Kevin Grice adjourned the case for the probation service to prepare a background report on McGoldrick, of Bowness Road, Greenbank, Whitehaven.
McGoldrick is set to be sentenced at the crown court on September 15 and was bailed with a condition that he must not contact Miss Holm.
