The Alzheimer’s Society, Fit for Life and Citizens Advice Bureau have been presented with cheques for £1,000 each.
It follows a series of fund-raisers held by the choir over Christmastime.
The choir sang to shoppers at Dunmail Park, in Workington, and Tesco and Morrisons, in Whitehaven, to spread festive cheer, and raise cash for charity. It also held a fundraising Christmas concert at Whitehaven Civic Hall.
Don Messenger, from Whitehaven Male Voice Choir, said: “Each year we look at what we feel is a needy charity but we felt this year the money should go to the three causes.”
He said members wanted to support the three worthy causes: CAB because “of funding problems” it was facing, Fit For Life as it is “a small organisation run by volunteers” and the Alzheimer’s Society, as the disease “can hit anybody at any time”.
In addition to its Christmas fundraisers, the choir has also raised £3,000 for other causes over the past 12 months.
