Whitehaven Lions are looking for public support to take part in a charity swimarathon and the town's annual carnival.
Teams of up to six swimmers are being sought to take part in a swimming event which takes place on Sunday, March 12 at Copeland Pool.
While the swimmers can raise cash for their own charities, a percentage of the total raised on the day is given to the Lions.
Anyone wishing to take part should apply for an entry form from christine.kirk@whitehavenlions.org.uk
The Lions are also inviting groups, organisations and schools to take part in this year's carnival which takes place on Saturday, July 1.
Last year's carnival saw Star Wars characters, rock stars, giants and superheroes paraded through the town while a dance-off, filled with traditional dancing, flips and tricks took place in Castle Park.
The parade was led by councillor Peter Tyson, chairman of Copeland Council and Esther Clements, the past president of Whitehaven and District Lions Club, which organised the event with a team of volunteers.
David Ashworth, of the Lions, said: "We are appealing again to all members of the local community to think about entering in the carnival parade.''
