Almost 100 people attended a fundraising afternoon tea at Whitehaven’s Solway Hall.

The event raised more than £2,400 which will be divided equally between Calderwood House at Egremont and Rosehill Youth Theatre.

Singer Evie Rusman and the Lakeland Clarinets performed.

Guests were treated to cakes, scones, sandwiches and a small bottle of prosecco. There was also a raffle and a name the sheep competition.

Julieanne Kelly, organiser of the event, said: “It was a really nice day.

“I would like to thank all those at Solway Hall, the volunteers, those who baked cakes, donated raffle prizes and supported the event.

“It was the first time we had organised a tea party and we collected a great amount of money,” she added.

Fundraising places, in aid of Calderwood House and Rosehill Theatre, are available for The Great North Run, and a walk up Ben Nevis this September.
