CLASSIC anthems from the worlds of rock and ska feature in a double-header at The Solway Hall this week.

The Whitehaven venue welcomes State of Quo for a Friday headline set, while Saturday's live show comes courtesy of Skadiac Arrest.

State of Quo, as the name suggests, are dedicated to the music of legendary British rock band Status Quo.

One of the longest established and most popular Status Quo tribute bands in Europe, they have been lauded by Classic Rock and Kerrang! writer Mick Wall.

Originally formed by Rhythm Guitarist Paul Carr in the mid-90s, State of Quo have played countless gigs all over the UK, as well as several events in Europe - most recently headlining the Crossed Guitars Music Festival in Freischepalen, Holland.

In recent years, State of Quo have performed at numerous outdoor Festivals in the UK and also toured as support to Status Quo's bass player, John "Rhino" Edwards and his own band Rhino's Revenge - which included both bands sharing a stage at the first ever International Status Quo Fan Club Convention in Minehead.

A typical State of Quo set-list showcases tracks from the classic 1970s albums that established Quo as one of the most popular rock bands of the time, alongside material from more recent albums such as Heavy Traffic and Quid Pro Quo - all played as faithfully as possible to Quo's own original recordings and live performances.

Support for the show comes from Byrne Jovi

Saturday's headliners are Skadiac Arrest - a tribute to two-tone, ska and reggae heroes.

The trio play through a set-list that includes favourites from artists such as Madness, Bad Manners, The Specials, UB40, The Selecter, The Beat and many more.

Both shows start at 7.30pm and tickets are available from the Whitehaven Civic Hall box office.
