Rockmantic Festival at The Brickyard and Embers, Carlisle - Friday 9 & Saturday 10

Cumbria's first festival of the year is also one of the heaviest! Taking place over two venues, The Brickyard's main stage features Massive Wagons headlining the opening night and Germany's The New Roses on Saturday, with a supporting cast that includes US outfit Bullets & Octane, The Main Grains, Falling Red and Hellbound Hearts among many others. Embers' second stage has the likes of The Idol Dead, State Control, Jack the Envious and Triverse Massacre over the two days.


Wes Finch at Zeffirellis, Ambleside - Friday 9

A solo artist who mixes covers as diverse as Hank Williams and the Arctic Monkeys, the Midlands-based singer-songwriter will play a selection of his original compositions and a range of well-known covers.

His music has strong folk, Americana and pop influences but always retains its own sense of Englishness and individuality.


Blueway Jane at The Yellow Earl, Whitehaven - Friday 9

Alt rock four-piece Blueway Jane kick off a busy spring with a headline set in Whitehaven. Having released their debut EP, Arrogance & Lies, last year, the band have established themselves in the region with a series of live shows and support slots.

They are also heading into the studio at Heavy Rain Sound Production, in Windermere, to record their next EP, which will be released later this year, and the new material is set to feature at the show.


AJ Moore and Nick Rundall at Carlisle Folk and Blues Club - Friday 9

Carlisle guitarist AJ Moore is back in his hometown, joined by regular collaborator Nick Rundall. The London-based pair, who share guitar and vocal roles, play from their self-titled album, blending exquisite dual guitar arrangements with original songwriting.

Working as guitarist for chart-topping artists including G4, Nell Bryden and Laura Wright, Moore's own debut album, Harmonics, saw radio play across Europe and the BBC.


13 Crowes at The Source, Carlisle & Lounge 41, Workington - Friday 9 & Saturday 10

Rising Scottish rock band 13 Crowes have two Cumbrian dates on their mini-tour to promote their latest album.

The Dumfries outfit pay homage to those who have brought them together and impacted their lives so greatly, such as Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits, Brian Fallon and poet Robert Burns, to name a few.


Pons Aelius at Florence Arts Centre, Egremont - Saturday 10

Instrumental folk sextet Pons Aelius head to Cumbria to play material from their recent debut album, Captain Glen’s Comfort.

September's release showcases their expansive sound and unique approach to the traditional music of Britain and beyond. The result is a colossal sound-world, drawing influences from far and wide, yet managing to unite them under one roof.


Fleetwood Bac at Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal - Saturday 10

The world's longest-running and most lauded Fleetwood Mac tribute band are back in South Cumbria.

Fleetwood Bac were the world’s first and are regarded as the UKs most authentic performers of the British-American rock icons' songs. Endorsed by Mick Fleetwood himself, Fleetwood Bac have had huge acclaim and more than 800 appearances to their name.


Ninebarrow at the Browfoot Room, Ulpha - Saturday 10

BBC Folk Award-nominated duo Ninebarrow are returning to Cumbria in the run-up to their new album being released. After their explosion onto the national folk scene over the past two years, the duo are heading out on an extensive national tour of rural venues once more.

Ninebarrow were nominees at last year’s BBC Radio 2 Folk Award in the ’Horizon’ category for Best Emerging Artist.


Jon McClure and the Our Little Indie Night at The Yellow Earl, Whitehaven - Saturday 10

Frontman for British indie stars Reverend and The Makers, Jon McClure, leads the line-up at the Our Little Indie Night event, alongside residents John Peacock and Richie Harrison, and local DJs Danny Maudling and David Blacklock.

Expect the latest tracks from the biggest indie bands around, some all-time classic hits, and some lesser-known gems.


Maxiroots at Upfront Theatre, Hutton in the Forest - Saturday 10

Argentinian producer and DJ Maxiroots brings his Latin-influenced sounds to the Upfront Theatre, combing the traditional South American style Cumbia with dub and tropical music, live brass, drums and vocals. Expect an eclectic evening that also encompasses everything from reggae to folk, rock 'n' roll and Saharan blues.

Long-standing festival band Diddley Squat provide the support, with warm-up DJs also to be announced.


Tenors Un Limited at The Sands Centre, Carlisle - Sunday 11

The best songs from the world's greatest opera houses feature in one stage show. Tenors Un Limited perform their latest live tour, Songs from Venice to Vegas, joined by their musical director at the piano and supported by a local choir, Zing.

Tenors Un Limited's soaring vocals and lush harmonies combined with fun, personality and a sense of humour always make for a great night out.


Clive Carroll at the Queens Arms, Walney - Sunday 11

Virtuoso acoustic guitar player Clive Carroll returns to Cumbria for the second time in as many weeks, playing music from his newest CD, The Furthest Tree.

Named as one of the top 10 acoustic guitarists of all-time by Total Guitar magazine, he is in prestigious company, having received praise from the likes of Tommy Emmanuel and the late John Renbourn.


Jess Gillam at Theatre by the Lake, Keswick - Sunday 11

Cumbrian sax star Jess Gillam hosts an evening recital at the Theatre by the Lake, following an afternoon family concert at the venue earlier in the day.

One of the most exciting young performers to hit the local scene in recent years, and one of the most vibrant young saxophonists in the country, she has appeared at the BBC Proms concerts, and finished runner-up in the 2016 BBC Young Musician of the Year.
