A thug has admitted his part in a violent attack which left a man with a fractured skull and a bleed on his brain.
Jordan Alan Starkey, 24, appeared at Carlisle Crown Court yesterday where he pleaded guilty to affray following an incident outside the Richmond pub in Hensingham, Whitehaven last May.
The court heard Starkey struck David Cartmell once, causing the victim to bang his head on the ground. Mr Cartmell was detained in hospital for almost a week having suffered serious head injuries.
While on bail for that offence in August Starkey then carried out a sustained and unprovoked attack on a pub landlord, who was headbutted and punched behind his own bar.
Recorder Michael Murray asked for background reports on Starkey, previously of Patterdale Close, Whitehaven, before he is sentenced on August 26. He was remanded in custody.
