A theatre group will perform a show for audience members with special educational needs.

Whitehaven Theatre Group has announced that the Wednesday night showing of upcoming musical Oklahoma! – and the Wednesday night performance of all future productions – will be a SEN-friendly event.

The show will see all loud or startling noises and light effects removed to make them suitable for all.

The group's Rachel Denwood said: "We know there are people who would like to attend shows and who are concerned that someone in their group may not be able to sit still, to be quiet or may react differently to things.

"We don't like the idea of people missing out on performances or being worried about upsetting other audience members, and we are hoping these performances will put them at ease and reassure them that we would love to provide them with a fabulous night's entertainment.

"The performances are still open to anyone in the public but we'd like them to be aware that these changes to the show will be in effect to hopefully put our SEN audience at ease and give them an enjoyable, stress free opportunity to attend."

Tickets for Oklahoma!, which runs at Egremont Market Hall from Tuesday, April 25 to Saturday, April 29, are available at www.whitehaventheatregroup.com or 07588051942.
