CHILDREN and their bears shared treats at a picnic against the stunning backdrop of the Lake District.

The children at Frizington Primary School took to the scenic woodland surrounding Ennerdale Water and brought their teddies along to join in the fun. Activities, which took place at the lake's scout hut, included, pin the tail on the bear, a scavenger hunt, face painting, bubble blowing and lots of food and drink to share.

The children have been learning about their natural surroundings, wildlife and conservation every week in their forest classroom through fun tasks. Their topic recently has been global gardening, so children prepared themed foods such as grapes on cocktail sticks and "hedgehog" bread.

Teaching assistant, Emily Cummings, said: "The teddy bear picnic was fantastic, the weather held off and all the children had a great time."
