A TV presenter and craft artist stopped off in Egremont as he travels across the country holding workshops.

John Bloodworth, known as “The Gentleman Crafter”, and the star of Create & Craft TV, has embarked on a national craft challenge tour of the UK, and popped into Florence Arts Centre.

The presenter, designer and blogger is travelling nationwide to raise money for mental health charity Mind, hosting craft workshops from Land’s End to John o’ Groats.

He is a familiar face for craft fans, with more than 10,000 on-screen hours on the TV channel under his belt.

“He held a craft workshop in the arts centre’s gallery space to make a mixed media working clockface, teaching techniques and having fun along the way,” said Craig Carruthers, from Florence Arts Centre.

In his only Cumbrian visit, the artist came to Egremont on Sunday (February 12) in his Create & Craft camper van.

Having had his own life turned upside down by mental health issues in recent years, the tour is raising money for a cause close to John’s heart.

With depression and anxiety issues making his life a struggle, he credits the charity as a support mechanism through it all. He decided to take on this challenge in order to give something back.
