Scores of comic book, cosplay and animation fans have been descending on Carlisle's Richard Rose Academy for today's Megacon event.

People of all ages travelled from across Cumbria and beyond to browse a range of stalls selling artwork and collectable figurines . Others were dressed as their favourite characters from films and TV shows including The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones.

Catherine Edgar and her mum, Janice, both travelled to Carlisle from Whitehaven to be part of the Megacon extravaganza.

Catherine, dressed as Catwoman, told the News & Star: "I got the costume off eBay, to be honest.

"I got into cosplay last year, when I went to Comic Con. It's something I do with my friends. There isn't really a lot of things like this in Cumbria so you have to travel to go to them. But it's such a great atmosphere here.

"Cosplay is great because you get to dress up and be someone else, I think that's what I enjoy most about it."

Janice - dressed as The Woman in Black - added: "This is the first time I've been to something like this but I'm enjoying it. My daughter and her fiance were coming so I thought that I'd get involved as well."
