ACCLAIMED soprano Rebecca Newman will be the guest of honour at Whitehaven Male Voice Choir's annual concert next week.

Rebecca - widely described as one of the UK's most exciting classical performers - will join the choir for their much-anticipated performance at Whitehaven Civic Hall on Saturday, June 4.

Affectionately named 'The People's Soprano' by fans, colleagues and the media, Rebecca soared to number one in the UK Classical Albums Chart in September 2014, with her debut chart release, Dare to Dream.

She has performed on Songs of Praise, on BBC Radio 2 and Classic FM, has shared stage with a host of star names including Russell Watson, Alfie Boe and Aled Jones, and recorded with Katherine Jenkins.

The Male Voice Choir will be led on the night by musical director Peter Argyle, with choir accompaniment by Joan Johnston.

The show begins at 7.30pm and tickets are £10 for adults, £8 for seniors, and £5 for under-16s from any choir member, or Don Messenger on 01946 63452.
