Cumbrian music and arts event Solfest has announced the first batch of performers set to appear at this summer's show.

The three-day festival, which takes place at Tarns, near Aspatria, will be welcoming some of the UK's best-known festival performers - with the headline acts still to be announced.

The diverse nature that the festival has built its reputation on is reflected in the early names confirmed to appear, covering drum 'n' bass, folk, and electro across the site's eight stages.

Most notable is the appearance of The Stanton Warriors. Kings of bass and breaks music, the duo, who also run the record label Punks, are considered among the biggest acts across the globe in their genre.

The pair, Dominic Butler and Mark Yardley, are regularly championed by BBC Radio 1 and MTV, and have starred at numerous major events, from East London warehouses and Miami boat parties, to the stages of Glastonbury, Exit, Burning Man, Ultra and Coachella, selling out global tours and topping DJ lists along the way.

Dub Pistols Joining them will be an artist known for his great live performances, folk star Beans on Toast. The nationally-renowned musician has toured the world with his show, and again has starred at festivals such as Boomtown and Glastonbury.

Fellow folk performer Will Varley is known for his soft beautiful folk songs, and he'll be playing from his brand-new album, Kingsdown Sundown.

The Dub Pistols, who have been gracing Cumbrian events with their lively drum 'n' bass madness for around a decade, are another welcome addition.

Other stand-out acts contributing to the international line-up of artists include: Vadou Game, Serial Killaz, Dutty Moonshine Big Band, Chainska Brasika, The Undercover Hippy, Captain Hotknives, Jinx in Dub, Vibronics, Stylus DJ, Dirtbox DJs, Unity Sessions and the Lost and Found crew.

As well as the music stages, the Solfest programme has a strong focus on the arts, and the site also boasts an extensive kids area, walkabout entertainment, storytelling, open mic and all manner of entertainment.

The local music scene will be strongly represented this year, with Cumbrian bands and musicians in the process of being confirmed.

Solfest will take place over the August bank holiday weekend, from Friday 25 to Sunday 27. Tickets are available now from the festival website .
