Singing star Jolan is hoping to once again capture the hearts of the public when he releases his first ever single next month.

And to give his fans a reminder of his incredible talent, the 23-year-old launched a four-track EP called Patient today.

There's high hopes for Jolan's musical future, as he's teamed up with one of the world's most successful songwriting and producing teams, Xenomania, founded by Whitehaven-born Brian Higgins.

The singer from Moor Row, near Whitehaven, is also in regular contact with the Kaiser Chief's frontman Ricky Wilson, who coached him in last year's singing show The Voice where he came runner-up.

"Ricky wants to hear everything I'm doing," said Jolan. "I sent him the EP a fortnight ago and he text me straight away to say he loved it."

Ricky has been urging people to buy the EP, calling Jolan "one of the greatest singers" he's ever met.

It was 18 months ago when Ricky persuaded Brian Higgins – who wrote Cher's Believe – one of the best ever selling selling singles of all time – to work with Jolan. And since then they've been recording in a London studio.

"The day after The Voice final me and Ricky went out for Sunday dinner in this bar in London and had a good old natter about what's next," said Jolan.

"He said he didn't just want me to linger into nothing. He thought I was good enough to make it, which is high praise."

At the time, Brian Higgins' Xenomania Records was producing the Kaiser Chief's latest album, and Ricky asked Brian to listen to Jolan.

"When Ricky first mentioned me, he (Brian Higgins) wasn't too keen as I'd just came out of The Voice, but Ricky said to trust him," explained Jolan.

"I must have made an impression and we signed a deal together and he's almost acting as a sort of manager now."

Xenomania Records has also been pushing sales of Jolan's EP, tweeting that his songs "blew them away" and that they weren't too interested at first, but Ricky Wilson reminded them that Jolan was from Whitehaven "a town without which there would be no Xenomania."

"I'm really pleased to be having stuff coming out again," added Jolan. "It's been almost a year. We needed something to release because we have the big single (Hold Me Like You Love Me) coming out in November and we want people to know that I'm still here and still around and recording."
