CARING bikers are set to collect vital food supplies for charity at an annual bike ride this weekend.

Whitehaven’s Motorcycle Action Group is holding its annual Two Tin Christmas ride in west Cumbria.

Tins and preserved food are being collected for Age UK and tinned pet foods will be handed over to Animal Concern West Cumbria.

Anyone who wants to donate food can drop off items at any of the collection points between Keswick and Whitehaven on Sunday.

Anne Crayston, of Whitehaven MAG, said: “It’s nice to give back to local charities, particularly ones that may not get noticed as much as other charities at Christmas. And it’s a good way to raise public awareness about motorcycling.”

Bikers will meet at Keswick from 11.30am until noon.

The group will be at Mitchell’s Auction in Cockermouth at 12.30pm, where they are set to meet Sue Hayman, MP for Workington.

She will be speaking to bikers about motorcycling issues and is also being invited to join the group as a pillion passenger for part of the journey to experience riding on the area’s roads.

From Cockermouth, bikers will travel to Greggain’s Garage, Maryport, for around 1.15pm. From there, they will travel to Tesco at Workington at 1.30pm, before making their way to the final collection point at Old Customs House on Whitehaven harbour at about 2pm.
