Salsa dancers have swished, twisted and turned at two events in St Bees.

A Strictly Come Dancing-style fundraiser was held at the Seacote Hotel on Saturday in aid of the Give us a Break 2010.

Over 200 people attended Saturday's event which raised around £3,000.

The money will go to the charity which aims to build a short breaks centre for disabled children in the area.

And the following morning, dancers braved the windy weather for a bracing workout.

The dance session was organised by Helen Thomas, of Simply Salsa, based in Egremont.

The grassy area overlooking the beachfront became the stage for around 25 dancers, as they took part in a type of Cuban dancing called rueda.

She said: "We were out for about half an hour. It was just the weather that hampered us."

"It was a massive success with lots of happy people. It was fabulous!"

Helen said both events were supported by local dancers and dancers from across the northwest including Blackpool, Preston and Blackburn.

She said thanks goes to Salsa Northwest and Noches de Salsa for their support.
