Conservative candidate Simon Fell went before our Facebook audience to answer their questions in the run up to the general election.

With just days to go before the country goes to the polls, we asked Mr Fell some of your most pressing concerns, kindly submitted to our Facebook page.

Mr Fell was asked to answer questions on Conservative cuts to local governments, with Barrow being one of the hardest hit councils in the country, and government's record on food banks.

On pay rises for public sector workers, he said: "With regard to public sector pay I think it's time to star loosening the belt a little bit, out front line services are absolutely essential, we can't afford to have a demoralised workforce."

He was also critical of his own party, saying that they should do more to tackle the problems caused by benefit cuts, in particular the rise of food banks in the area.

He said: "I think my government is not doing as well as it can be doing in that space."

Thank you to everyone who took time to submit a question.
