Witnesses are sought after a suspected arson attack in West Cumbria.

A wheelie bin behind a property in Rowrah Road, Rowrah, was set alight between 11pm on Saturday and 9am on Sunday.

Nobody was injured but the bin, a waste pipe and a plastic window were all damaged.

Police believe the fire may have been deliberate.

A spokesman said: "Fortunately no-one was injured as a result of the fire but the consequences could have been worse given its proximity to the property.

"If anyone believes that they have any information that could assist with our enquiries please come forward. I am keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen anyone acting suspiciously".

Anyone with information is asked to call email 101@cumbria.police.uk or call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting incident number 82 of the 22nd of April 2017.
