One of Rodgers and Hammerstein's most iconic musical will be hitting Egremont Market Hall this month.

Songs such as Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin' and People Will Say We're in Love will be performed by Whitehaven Theatre Group from April 25 to April 29 at 7pm.

The show tells the tale of handsome local cowboy, Curly McLain who is pining for the beautiful woman of his dreams, Laurey Williams, in 1906 Oklahoma.

However, Curly must first discourage Laurey from taking up with the local farmhand Judd, who has also declared his love for her, as well as convince another woman of his worth, Aunt Eller.

Whitehaven Theatre Group is also holding a relaxed showing during the Wednesday night of their run.

This will include changes to lighting and sound effects as well as relaxed seating policies to accommodate audience members who may not feel comfortable in a theatre setting.

These performances have proven to be popular with adults and children with autistic spectrum conditions or learning difficulties, families with young children, and older audiences who experience memory problems or dementia.

A spokesperson for the theatre group said: "We are hoping that other local groups may soon follow suit and more people will be encouraged to

enjoy a night at the local theatre venues."

Tickets are available from www.whitehaventheatregroup.com or by calling 07588051942.

Tickets are also on sale for the group’s pantomime, Aladdin, at Egremont Market Hall from December 5 to 10.
