The carol concert at Cleator Moor Methodist Church will star youngsters from Wright Start Nursery as part of the Shining Stars at Christmas event over the week-end.
The event, which is run by all the churches in Cleator, Cleator Moor and Frizington, will be raising money for Hospice at Home and Macmillan Cancer Support.
Participants will put a star with a personal message on the church’s Christmas tree in memory of a loved one and make a charitable donation.
You will have the chance to add your star at a number of events at Cleator Moor Methodist Church ending with the ecumenical carol service on Sunday.
Funding for the event was secured when Sellafield Contractors Group Charity Committee gave £500 to help run the fundraiser.
The event also received a £250 boost from Cleator Moor town council, meaning that organisers have exceeded their £700 target.
Town council clerk Helen Gilmour said that the idea was “lovely” and that it was raising money for a good cause, which is close to a lot of people’s hearts.
During the event, the Methodist Church will be open from 10am until 3pm on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, the church will be open from 2pm onwards with the community carol service starting at 6pm.
The carol concert which kicks it all off will be held this Friday, December 11, at 2pm.
The event will be run entirely by volunteers from the church.
