A new Cleator Moor group has set up to help bring community projects to the town.

The Community Interest Company will replace the previous Town Team which was established five years ago.

That was set up in 2012 to apply to be a Portas Pilot town, in line with Mary Portas's report to the Government about revitalising town centres.

Since then the Town Team has helped fund the monthly Moor Made market events at Cleator Moor Civic Hall, as well as support The Tour-de-Moor Cycle event, Christmas lights switch-on, and The Phoenix Youth Project fun day.

Paul Rowe, project manager of the Phoenix Youth Project, said: "Cleator Moor Town Team has been a huge support to our annual fun day over the past three years.

"So much so it would not have run without there generous financial support which has totalled £2,750. Everyone here at The Phoenix Youth Project would like to say a huge thanks to the Town Team."

The new directors at The Community Interest Company are Nick Ford, Charles Moore, David Riley, Nigel Goddard and David Farrell. Further appointments to the board will be made in the future.

Mr Farrell said: "We will continue to work hard for the residents of Cleator Moor developing initiatives which will enhance social interaction by bringing people together through providing well attended annual events."
