A NAKED ladies charity calendar has raised £500 for a local cause.

The cheeky calendar featured Copeland women shedding their clothes and getting up close and personal with nature. Photo shoots were held in beauty spots in Egremont and Ennerdale.

They raised cash for the Give Us A Break charity which aims to build a centre for disabled children and their families.

Organiser Jo Bell said around 250 calendars were sold. A £500 donation is being made to charity and the remainder of cash will go towards printing costs.

Plans are under way for a Naked in the Lakes 2017 calendar.

Jo said there has been interest from prospective models. The calendar is beneficial for "their self esteem and confidence," she said.

They are open to which charity it will support and they are also looking for sponsorship.

Secretary Ryan Armstrong and Jimmy Cassidy, treasurer, from the Sellafield construction branch of the Unite union recently presented the women with a £500 cheque for the next calendar.

Jo said: "Ryan and Jimmy's donation will allow us to cover more of the printing costs for the calendar."

Tony Roberts Carpets will also be sponsoring the 2017 calendar.
