John McGuinness, one of the top TT riders of all time, is coming to West Cumbria in April to speak to fans.

McGuinness will be joined by special guest, former road racer and race commentator Jamie Whitham, for a night at Whitehaven Civic Hall on Friday, April 21.

With 23 wins and an overall 46 podiums, McGuinness is the second most-successful Isle of Man TT rider of all time.

Debuting in 1996, he won the best newcomer award and, three years later, landed his first TT win in the Lightweight 250 category.

McGuinness, a specialist Isle of Man TT solo motorcycle rider, has added win after win since.

In 2007, he became the first man to break through the 130mph average barrier and then the 131mph barrier in an official race – pushing it up to 131.578mph in 2009.

And in the 2015 Senior race, he won and set a new outright lap record of 132.701mph.

He achieved the fastest laps in the TT Zero in 2014 and 2015, but was otstripped by Bruce Anstey last year. It has been confirmed he will be taking part in the TT Zero this year.

TV star Guy Martin has been signed up as his team mate for Honda for this year.

McGuinness, 44, is coming to Whitehaven with Whitham, who raced in most major British and international championships, winning the British championship twice.

They will talk about their careers and answer questions from fans while the night will also include a performance from comedian Jamie Sutherland.
